Illawarra / Shoalhaven Community Renewables Program

With power costs on the rise, the Illawarra/Shoalhaven Community Renewables Program is making it easier for residents and small businesses across Kiama, Shellharbour, Shoalhaven and Wollongong to access affordable solar and battery solutions, helping cut bills and boost energy resilience.

This program supports the region’s shared goal of a climate-resilient future by creating a local renewable energy network, enabling a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), and delivering long-term financial, environmental, and community benefits.

More solar panels and batteries across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, combined with the rollout of a VPP, will help stabilise the grid and better protect households from blackouts and extreme weather events.
